'People are fearful' - the reasons 'juggernaut' Arsenal have become the side to defeat.

There's little doubt why Arsenal have become many people's favorites to claim the Premier League this season.

Examine their outcomes against Fulham and Crystal Palace versus those identical matches in the previous campaign.

The Gunners have defeated all of them during this campaign, but surrendered 10 points across those games as they faded in the title race last season.

Defensive Prowess

Arsenal's defensive strength is a key reason why they are looking well positioned to ultimately achieve their title goal.

They stand first for shutouts (6), goals allowed (3), attempts against (72), dangerous chances allowed (19) and xGA (5.3).

The center-back duo of Gabriel and William Saliba is potentially the finest in the league, with Arsenal recording a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Dead-Ball Excellence

Their threat from set-pieces is highly documented, but competing clubs still don't know how to contain the Gunners from these situations.

They have notched 11 times from set-pieces in the league, a couple extra than any other side, with 69% of their goals coming from these situations.

"Arsenal can do a bit of everything now. The whole team has a fear factor. People are just afraid of them and it is wonderful to see."

Title Potential

What is particularly notable about Arsenal's beginning to the campaign is they have also played Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United on the road and Manchester City in their own stadium - and are still leading by four at the top.

While they keep winning, their historic competitors face difficulties. This marks the premier instance at this stage of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The scrutiny was on manager Mikel Arteta at the beginning, having spent around £250m on eight summer signings in quest of that elusive first title since 2004.

But the investment has so far paid off in remarkable manner, with his side one of the most prolific attacks in the league and having the strongest defense, despite numerous injuries.

  • Shutouts in three consecutive Premier League games
  • 385 minutes without conceding a goal
  • Only a trio of goals in 12 games across all competitions

Former players and analysts have characterized Arteta's men as a "unstoppable force, looking challenging to stop" with the whole club now operating with confidence and resolve.
